Black Poetry
LISTEN YOUNG POETS
I wanted to repost this because I must continue to teach my younger brothas and sistas. 99% of you are writing with so much skill and your words are flowing beautifully, but theres that 1% who need to be reminded, that poetry is art. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing your skills to BP...ONE LOVE

To be skilled in the verse you’ve got to maintain integrity,
Out of respect for yourself and of others,
You want to flow like molten lava,
Write with abandonment, write with respect, write my sistahs and brothas!

To be skilled in the verse you’ve got to really dig deep,
Reach the top of that volcano; try to reach its peak.
Freedom of speech is for all of us, thank God for America,
Freedom to be yourself, freedom to write, freedom to speak.

So, when versing, young poets, remember…don’t forget this!
Poetry is a skill that needs to be practiced…act upon this!
Poetry is your unspoken personality!
Poetry increases your mental capacity!
Poetry is your own written ability!
Poetry is expressing your unique creativity!
