Writing Lessons, Definitions and Help

ALLITERATION (also known as "tongue twisters")

Alliteration is the repetition of the initial consonant. There should be at least two repetitions in a row.

For example: "Now Peter Piper picked peppers and Run rocked Rhymes." (Run D-M-C)  The first letter, p, is a consonant. It is repeated many times. (If you use a syllable rather than a consonant, it is assonance.)

LESSON

Underline the alliteration in these sentences.

1. Black beauties born to boogie.

2. Pretty Peaches picked pears for preserves.

3. King Khufu kept Kimera's kids for Kwanzaa.

Finish the following sentences with alliterative words.

4. Silky Skin __________________________________________.

5. Hip Hop _______________________________________________.

6. Black Brotha ____________________________________________.

7. Lovely Lady ________________________________________________.

Take the first letter of your name and create your own alliterative sentence!
